A recent has found that DeepSeek, an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, has significant security issues that make data transmitted by the DeepSeek app vulnerable to various network-based attacks.

Employees with university-issued devices are asked to avoid installing the DeepSeek App, or if it is already installed, remove it from mobile devices.
Any faculty or staff member considering using DeepSeek for academic or research purposes may only do so after contacting Information Technology Services for guidance on implementing the appropriate protocols to ensure compliance with privacy, ethics, data security and institutional standards.
